Intelligent Assessment Technologies (IAT) are the developers of ExamOnline, an intuitive yet extremely powerful e-assessment platform which makes it simple to author, securely deliver, mark, and analyse sophisticated e-assessments, all through a standard web browser.

ExamOnline is a fully featured e-assessment platform, but the platform provides some unique features, such as computerised marking of short answer questions, support for essay style examinations, and support for hand drawn sketches. This demonstrates IAT's tradition of innovative software development in the field of e-assessment, reflected in the fact that the Company are winners of DTI SMART and SPUR awards for technology.

IAT has pioneered computerised assessment of free-text in the UK, working with many of the leading educational bodies in the UK, including :

SQA : IAT participated in both phases of the PASS-IT research project led by SQA, demonstrating the feasibility of automatically marking short-answer free-text questions in Higher Chemistry and Intermediate 1 English. IAT also act as consultants to SQA on eAssessment.

QCA : IAT carried out an investigation into free-text marking as part of the Key Stage 3 ICT Pilot. The output of this work has been included in the specification for the national test.

DfES : IAT have contributed to the Convergence project, investigating the use of automatic marking of free-text in assessing literacy.

The BBC : IAT were part of a consortium developing eLearning to support second language learners as part of the digital curriculum. IAT's engine was used in the development of activities which provide feedback on learner's free-text input.

However IAT is small enough to respond quickly to customer demands - we regularly carry out feature requests from customers to help improve our products. We believe that's one of the things that sets us apart.
